Superannuation

Nearly every Australian will have a superannuation product at some point in their life and understand it and making it work for you is very important. This is something we can help you with where it be:

  • Super Consolidations

  • Selecting the right Product Provider (Super Fund)

  • Selecting a suitable Investment Option

  • Salary Sacrificing into your super

  • Government Co-contribution and Spouse Contributions

  • Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSF)

Superannuation is not just something to be left unchecked, small changes now will have big impacts later on. It’s a great tax-effective method of saving for your retirement and for many of us, it is the largest asset we have, apart from our homes.

The complexity around superannuation is high and the never-ending legislation changes around super don’t make it any simpler. Its important to ensure your superannuation is running at its best and as tax-efficiently as it can. We try and take the complexity out of it and show you have great a superannuation can be.

Personal Insurance

Even the best financial plan or healthiest individual can be quickly undone without consideration to the risk of serious illness, disablement or death. It is important to build insurance protection into any financial plan as protecting what you already have and securing your financial future is important for everyone.

Insurance is something everyone will have in their lifetime though most will usually only insurer their houses and cars rather than the most important thing… themselves. Most super funds will have insurance within though they will differ in cover type, amounts and conditions.

We specialise in the (4) types of personal insurance:

  • Life Insurance

  • Total and Permanent Disability

  • Trauma Cover

  • Income Protection

Whether looking to fund through your superannuation to not impact your cashflow, or pay personal to help reduce your tax, we can help you determine the right types of insurance for you and suitable amounts.

Insurance can be expensive so our approach isn’t to load you up with cover and costs, but rather discuss what’s important to you and find a solution that is both effective in protecting you & your family and doesn’t cost a fortune.

Investment & Cash Advice

This is a very broad category as most things can be defined as some sort of investments. Usually this type of advice will go hand in hand with some superannuation or retirement planning but for this particular advice we are talking about pure investment advice. This could be anything from:

  • Investing money from a house sale / inheritance

  • Savings plan for your children

  • Investing in Share or Exchange Traded Funds (ETF’s)

  • Investing in Managed funds

  • Investment in Term Deposits or High Interest Savings Accounts

You have some spare money and you don’t want to put it into superannuation as you still want to access it? We can help you and discuss the different options and product types. As well we can discuss who’s name to hold the asset in (husband, wife, children) and the potential tax benefits now and into the future.

Retirement Planning and Living in Retirement

For us this is the area we see the most new clients from and something we do every day. Retirement though exciting can also be a worrying time as its such as large change in your life. We have helped many clients move from work to retirement and have seen firsthand what the experience involves.

  • Do I have enough to retire?

  • How much money will I have to spend per year when I’m retired?

  • When will my retirement savings run out?

  • Can I retire early?

  • Can I access some of my super and continue to work?

  • How to I build my retirement savings faster and more tax effectively?

We work with you to answer all the above questions and more. The most important thing about retirement planning is starting it! The earlier you start to plan the better your retirement and the more comfortable you will feel.

For those who are already retired we are here for you too. Just because your retired doesn’t mean the journey ends:

  • Am I spending too much?

  • Am I spending too little?

  • Will I run out of money?

  • Are there any government pensions and entitlement I am eligible for?

We help with all these questions and more. We are here for you everything step of the way to ensure you get the most out of your retirement.

Building Wealth and Knowledge

Building wealth is a very broad area as the possibilities are endless. This could be paying off a mortgage, savings for a goal, working towards retirement or simply just doing what’s best with the assets you have now. Everyone is different and everyone wants to achieve different things. Wealth building takes a step back and looks at the overall picture to try and navigate a path which you can follow to achieve those goals.

Knowledge is then understanding your existing position and the steps that you could take to achieve your goals. It’s not always our job as the adviser to tell you what to do all the time, somethings you’ll just want to know your options and then you proceed as you feel best. We will help you build your financial knowledge and understanding.

Centrelink (For Retirees)

Centrelink advice and assistance is something we have done for years. We came across many retirees who either weren’t getting the right amount of Centrelink or simply labelled it as ‘too difficult’. As you get older things should become easier, unfortunately this sentiment is not something that regularly occurs with Centrelink.

We can operate as your Centrelink nominee where we can handle most of the Centrelink process and ongoing support. This includes things like:

  • Setup of a MyGov Account to enable the Centrelink application

  • Applying for Centrelink (including Age Pension or Health Care Cards)

  • Maximising your Centrelink payment

  • Liaising with Centrelink on your behalf

  • Regularly review your assets to ensure your Centrelink payment is correct

  • Getting you all the concessions your entitled too (Driver’s License, Cost of Living etc)

The Centrelink process can be difficult especially for those who have never done it before, however once the initial application is done the pain is over. We have helped many clients in this area and we can help make the process a more pleasant one.

Estate Planning

Being there for your loved ones when they need you is something we all do. Though what happens when you can no longer be there for them? Having an estate plan in place is one of the final gifts you can give to your family, especially when you consider the emotional and complex task in front of them. Things to consider:

  • Do your assets end up in the right hands?

  • How long will your family wait to receive the money?

  • Is this paid in a tax effective manner?

It is essential you have a things in place to answer these questions as there is no second chance. We will work together to co-ordinate Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and your Superannuation Death Benefits.
