Senior Financial Adviser / Director
Matt Nicholls
Qualifications: Bachelor of Applied Finance, Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) and a Cert IV in Finance & Mortgage Broking. Completion of the latest FASEA Financial Adviser Exam and Kaplan Ethics course
I have been a financial adviser since 2010, following in my father’s footsteps. Initially focusing on superannuation and insurance, I gradually expanded my practice to offer holistic advice.
I don’t have a typical client I like the variety of dealing with people from all walks of life in various jobs and life stages. Through this I have been able to expand my knowledge base and now on a daily basis I deal with anything from someone starting out working, to a deceased estate and everything in between.
My approach to advice is positive, relaxed, and straightforward. I avoid hard sales tactics and complicated strategies, focusing instead on addressing clients' concerns and letting the advice speak for itself. I aim to ensure that clients fully understand the reasons behind the advice and how it benefits them, often leading to the common remark, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?” Simplicity is key in my advice style, as most clients prefer clear, manageable solutions. This approach has helped me grow my business largely through referrals.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Michelle, and our son, Leon, engaging in family activities and outdoor adventures. I also stay active by going to the gym and walking my two dogs in the evenings.
Associate Financial Adviser
Alexander Kaminski
Qualifications: Bachelor of Business (Finance), Bachelor of Business (Management of Information Technology), Diploma of Financial Planning. Completion of the latest Financial Adviser Exam & Kaplan Ethics course.
I have worked in financial services for 8+ years across a variety of roles, joining the industry straight out of University. I’ve have worked on both sides of finance, the client facing side and then also on the product side, so am fortunate to have seen how both sides of the finance system come together.
I currently work closely under Matt, progressing towards becoming a fully qualified financial adviser with only the completion of my provisional year remaining. I look forward to getting out there so chances are we may be in contact in one form or another.
A day for me could range anywhere from sitting in on client meetings to back-office administration and anything in between. Outside of work, I enjoy getting active and spend most of my nights at the gym.
Practice Manager
Michelle Kaminski
Qualifications: Bachelor of Applied Finance, Bachelor of Marketing, Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning).
Firstly, I am Matt’s wife and Mother to our wonderful and very full of energy young son!
I have been very fortunate to have spent the last 5 years as a Stay-at-home Mum. Nothing quite prepares you for children and you learn many lessons and new skills – especially patience! However, it has truly been a pleasure and I deeply cherish the early years we have had together.
Previously I spent 10 years in financial services working in a variety of roles from Admin assistant, Paraplanner, Servicing Adviser and Business Development Manager. Starting my career at an entry level position all the way through to managing a large volume of clients has given me intimate knowledge of every step of the financial planning process from both the client side and the product side. I pride myself on having exceptional customer service and the ability to solve and problem thrown my way.
Outside of work I enjoy going on family adventures - especially bike rides. I love all things nature, hiking, food, travel and living a very clean natural minded lifestyle.
Client Services Manager
Judy Nicholls
I have been working part-time for Matthew since June 2020, assisting with office administration. I should also mention that I’m his mum. When I started, we were at a small office in Mawson Lakes before moving to our current location in Fairview Park in 2024. Before this, I worked for my husband, a mortgage broker, handling office admin and computer tasks.
My typical day now involves calling Superannuation & Insurance companies, preparing client reviews, scanning documents, and filing. Matt is a great boss, and I enjoy the extra time with him that this job allows.
Outside work, I’m a mum of four grown children with seven grandchildren. I love babysitting my grandkids on my days off. My hobbies include family time, holidays, shopping, dining out, movies, musicals, music, floristry, and enjoying the beach.
Paraplanner
Trudy Oakes
Qualifications: Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning)
My experience within the financial planning industry is more than 30 years. I have previously worked in many financial planning firms in various roles including that of being an Adviser. As the newest recruit to the Wealth-IQ team, I joined in April 2021 as a Paraplanner and this is how I have come to work for Matt as his paraplanner.
As such, my role is to assist Matt in the preparation of Statements of Advice to assist clients to achieve their financial goals.
The greatest part of working in this industry is the diversity of the clients you get to work with. This means that I get to enjoy developing great relationships with clients whilst assisting them in their journey to help them meet their retirement planning goals.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my three boys and family. My interests include cooking, gardening, and travelling.
